Which credits can be validated?

In principle, any credit that the academic coordinator agrees to recognize can be validated. However, the recognition of any credit depends on each faculty or school. The content of the subjects and teaching load will be taken into account.

Before going to a destination university, students must agree with their coordinator on the studies to be taken and their validation at the UdL.

As a general rule, failed subjects cannot be validated and must be taken at the UdL. In the case of the EPS, it is necessary to talk to the academic coordinator.

How many credits can be validated?

The maximum number of credits to be validated depends on the duration of stay.

OLD SYLLABI

  • Half of the course = 37.5 credits UdL
  • The whole course = 75 credits UdL

NEW SYLLABI

  • Half of the course = 30 credits ECTS
  • The whole course = 60 credits ECTS

ECTS (the European Credit Transfer System) is the system of recognition adopted by the Socrates/Erasmus programme. The European Commission promotes ECTS as a common framework to facilitate academic recognition between different universities.

ECTS credits and ECTS qualifications.

ECTS credits

Each subject is worth a certain number of local credits (specific for each university) and a certain number of ECTS credits which facilitate the transfer of recognized subjects from different universities.

The teaching load of a whole academic course is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits. The teaching load of a semester/quarter is equivalent to 30 ECTS credits, and that of three months is equivalent to 20 ECTS credits. ECTS credits are taken by students at a destination university depending on their period of stay.

ECTS grades

The ECTS grading scale represents a student’s academic performance in comparison with other students.

ECTS credits and grades do not replace other universities’ credits and grades, but rather give additional information of a student’s academic performance both in terms of quantity and quality.

B 25% Above the average standard but with some errors.
C 30% Generally sound work with a number of notable errors.
D 25% Fair but with significant shortcomings.
E 10% Performance meets the minimum criteria.
F - FX - Some more work required before the credit can be awarded.
